Introduction to ChatGPT
In this course, you'll learn what ChatGPT is, how it actually works, and how to use it effectively for everyday tasks — from writing and research to learning new skills and getting unstuck on problems.
About this course
ChatGPT has become one of the most widely used tools in the world — but most people use only a tiny fraction of what it can do, and many use it in ways that produce mediocre results. This course gives you a clear, honest understanding of what ChatGPT actually is, what it can and can’t do, and how to get genuinely useful output from it.
You’ll learn how language models work at a level that’s high enough to be useful but not so deep that you need a tech background. You’ll learn the key skill of “prompting” — how to phrase your requests so that ChatGPT understands what you actually want. You’ll learn when to trust ChatGPT and when not to, how to verify its answers, and how to use it for the most common real-world tasks: writing, learning, brainstorming, summarizing, translating, and problem-solving.
This isn’t a hype course. We’ll cover the limits and failures of ChatGPT honestly — including when it gets things wrong, when it makes things up, and when a different tool would serve you better. By the end, you’ll be able to use ChatGPT confidently for tasks that genuinely save you time, and you’ll know what’s hype vs. what’s real.
This course is the foundation for the next two in the AI series: how to use ChatGPT for productivity, and how to use it to earn money. Start here.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for:
People who’ve heard about ChatGPT but never used it (or barely tried it)
Anyone who’s used it casually but suspects they’re missing the better ways to use it
Professionals curious about how AI fits into their work
Students and learners who want to use AI tools for study, writing, and research
People who tried ChatGPT once, got a mediocre answer, and concluded it wasn’t useful
Anyone preparing for an AI-influenced job market who wants to understand the basics
You don’t need any technical background, programming knowledge, or prior AI experience. If you can use a web browser and type a question, you can take this course.
How does the learning work?
This course is structured to give you a working understanding, not just a theoretical one:
Short lessons (8–12 minutes)
Each lesson focuses on one concept or skill you can apply immediately.
Real examples in every lesson
You’ll see actual prompts that work and prompts that don’t, so you can recognize good and bad patterns in your own usage.
Honest discussion of limits
Every capability covered also addresses what ChatGPT can’t do well, so you build realistic expectations.
Hands-on application
After most lessons, you’ll have a small task you can try in ChatGPT to practice the concept while it’s fresh.
Foundation for what comes next
By the end, you’ll be ready for the more advanced AI courses — productivity workflows and monetization strategies — which build on the skills here.
